Carlos Alcaraz Beats Daniil Medvedev To Reach Semis at ATP Finals
The Spaniard emerged victorious in a hard-fought match that lasted two hours and 14 minutes.
Alcaraz, the tournament's top seed, won the first set in a tiebreaker and then dominated the second set to take a comfortable lead. Medvedev attempted a comeback in the third set, but Alcaraz proved to be too strong, eventually winning the match 7-6 (7-5), 6-1.
This victory marks Alcaraz's third win over Medvedev in their four career meetings and sends him into the semi-finals of the ATP Finals for the first time.
The Spaniard will now face either Stefanos Tsitsipas or Andrey Rublev in the semi-finals, with the match scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 19th.
Medvedev, meanwhile, will be disappointed with his performance in Turin, but he will be hoping to bounce back strong in the upcoming Davis Cup Finals.
The ATP Finals is the season-ending tournament for the top eight singles players and doubles teams in the world. The tournament is held in Turin, Italy, and features a round-robin format in the group stage, followed by semi-finals and a final.
Alcaraz is the youngest player to reach the semi-finals of the ATP Finals since Novak Djokovic in 2007.
