Early Life and Career
Born on November 20, 1942, Joe Biden grew up in a working-class family in Scranton, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Syracuse University and the Syracuse University College of Law, he began his political career in 1970 when he was elected to the New Castle County Council.
Senate Career
In 1972, Biden was elected to the United States Senate at the age of 29, becoming one of the youngest senators in history. He served in the Senate for 36 years, during which time he chaired the Senate Judiciary Committee and played a key role in passing the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 and the Biden Crime Bill of 1996.
Vice Presidency
In 2008, Biden was elected Vice President of the United States under President Barack Obama. He served two terms in this role, playing a significant behind-the-scenes role in shaping Obama's policies.
Presidency
